“Real and relevant, yesterday, today and tomorrow. Perhaps the start of the conversation at your organization or reinforcing your message. Either way, this conversation is needed now.

Suicide Prevention
The pandemic put a spotlight on workplace mental health, but the reality is that it’s always been an issue. Although companies are bringing more intentionality to their efforts through stigma reduction campaigns, suicide prevention, and mental health days, a crucial aspect continues to be overlooked: the work related factors and stressors that increase suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Yes, mental health is complicated, but the more organizations ignore the US Surgeon General and World Health Organization’s call to protect employees from harm, foster connection, show them that they matter and support their growth, the more we’ll see the consequences of those with fair to poor mental health: 12 unplanned absences per year, and for some, suicide. Organizations cannot address the mental health challenges an individual might be facing in their personal life, but they can control the culture they create.
